So Amazon has a $10 off when you spend $29 or more on DeCecco Pasta products. I do realize in some locales, you may be able to buy 2 lbs of store brand pasta or even Barilla for a buck. However, let me put out the following points:
1.) DeCecco is a much better pasta, made in Italy, and is recommended by many chefs. Takes longer to cook but it is a premium product.
2.) Around where I am, regardless of Shaws/Stop and Shop/Whole Foods/small Italian grocer, it costs at least 2 bucks, if not 3 bucks per pound.
The only disadvantages are that you’re buying 10-20 lbs at a time, but for me that’s good for several months. Also, shipping dry pasta via UPS will have more breakage, but from the pasta I’ve ordered from Amazon, it’s not as bad as I imagined.
My suggestion is forget the boxes, because you can’t get as good of a deal and I hate excess packaging. Buy the 5 lb bulk bags x 4 bags for 33.86, take of 10 bucks making it 23.86 (or 1.20/lb). Add filler to make it 25 and free shipping, but I have prime so I don’t care about that. Personally I recommend the Linguini and Penne Rigate, but that’s just me.
