I Just Love VMWare

February 27th, 2009

The Alagad crew (well my team at least) is happily working with a client to help them create a next-generation product data management system. This is easily the largest and most complex system I’ve ever worked on. Yesterday I was breaking ground on the next and final major section of the application. I spent the previous days coming up with use cases, etc, and planning my approach to the architecture for this section. As a part of that I defined a set of SQL tables and I spent yesterday actually creating the tables. I tend to create tables in my local database and, once they’re finalized, I email scripts to our DBA who adds them to the “gold” copy of the database which is deployed to our client’s servers. So, today, I’m working through some high-level code and I realize I need the latest copy of the database. So I grab the latest revision out of SVN and restore it over my local copy. (Anyone see where this is headed?) And get back to work. This is when I start getting weird errors about objects not existing. D’oh!

Papervision3D: Camera Orbiting Done 3 Ways - AutoOrbit [AS3] [2]

February 27th, 2009

In an attempt to come up with the perfect camera orbit, I’ve created these three classes. The goal was for them to be easy to use, add minimal overhead, and provide some useful options…

Seamlessly Combining 2D and 3D in Flash with Planes, Part 3 [AS3]

February 27th, 2009

It’s been quite some time since I published parts 1 and 2 of this series, which turned out to be some of the most popular articles on this website. In part 1, I presented some ideas (and math) which either confused you or made a lot of sense to you if you happen to think and learn like I do. In part 2, I wrapped up the concepts into a class (called BasicViewPlus) to help you do the stuff I was talking about without actually thinking about it too hard. In the four months since I published part 2, I have continued to work with and improve BasicViewPlus. At this point, I think it is pretty solid, but I would still consider it beta until more people have tested it.

Since posting part 1, I’ve been promising to post a demo of using BasicViewPlus, and now I’m finally making good on that promise. The purpose of this demo is to illustrate how BasicViewPlus can be used to create an interface that feels interactive, by seamlessly transitioning between 2D and 3D. The following displays a bunch of Flickr photos (by searching for Cloth) in a 2D Grid component, when you click and drag a photo it should feel like you are dragging a piece of cloth…

MinimalRemoting: Simple Remoting Class without the Bells and Whistles [AS3]

February 27th, 2009

Mostly based on two other public projects, this class distills AMF remoting in AS3 down to a class that extends EventDispatcher. Code was ripped from Josh Strike’s remoting package and also from ProDevTips.

New AFW/PV3D Microsite Launched

February 27th, 2009

Whipped this up in about a week. Although it is a microsite, it has a full AS3 PureMVC + AFW Template implementation. If you’ve read about the AFW Template you know this means a content-managed, search-engine optimized, swirly whirly SWFAddress-ified, etc. website.

InitMonitor v.0.3: Not Just Another PureMVC Initialization Manager [AS3]

February 27th, 2009

The initial release of InitMonitor was described as a minimalist initialization manager. After using it for a little while I decided I wanted something more robust and full featured. So instead of reinventing the wheel I thought to use the official PureMVC StartupManager and bundled Asset Loader. After working for a while on converting an existing project to this paradigm I came to the realization that these were not the tools for the job.

Apache Installation in Windows

February 19th, 2009

PHP Install for Windows All Version (With Apache) in the first time I can recall when I learn a new programming at the Web Server and quite a few limitations, including Config
Config is sometimes difficult . then not have to have to Remove and Install new at it I also use the Windows 98 with PWS and is quite a problem when using PHP Config to the post, but I have to divert attention.
Apache, which is hot at the Sanctuary because that curve is the Config is much easier. And people starting to use much more. Find information and advice is much more. But also be a problem in that.
Will need to install Apache, PHP and MySQL in a separate section of each program. Now we do not need to waste time on Config and then again because Appserv Package  have called out to a home across town or around the world that it has collected Apache, PHP and MySQL with it.

Download Appserve package from : http://www.appservnetwork.com
and follow the installer instructions
