I think the Prius is a great car. I have been driving mine for the last 2 years and but over 30k miles on the car already. I average around 48mpg. My other 2 cars are a Nissan Quest and Infiniti G20. They average about 17mpg and 22mpg respectively when driven on the same routine as the Prius.
It is commuter car not a sports car. So don’t try to compare it to a Corvette. Many try to compare the Prius to the Corolla, but there is no comparison. First off the the Prius is slighty larger than the Corolla. I am 6th tall and even with the front seat pushed all the way to the back I have enough room in the rear seat Performance wise, I think the 2 are almost the same. The Prius also has so many more advanced features than Corolla. If the Corolla would have the features of a just a Prius package #2 it would cost $19k-$20k. A Camry with the similar features as a Prius cost over $22k.
The Prius is also very reliable. Some Prius have over 260k miles and the same engine and transmission 95% of Prius owner rate their cars as very satisfied and would buy another one. In California the battery warranty on the Prius is 10 year, 150k miles. The Hybrid system is 8 year, 100k miles. So please try out the Prius. You will be surprised.
